When you think of a natural, most people just picture a big afro. But there are some natural girls out there with fine hair, thin hair or a combination of both.

To be able to distinguish if you have fine hair, you have to get familiar with fine hair.

1. Fine natural contains less protein than other hair textures, and is very fragile and prone to breakage.

2. Lacks volume even though it’s curly it is easily weighed down.

3. Contains two of the three structures that make up a strand of hair:

the outer cuticle layer, and the cortex.

4. Fine natural hair is generally lacking the medulla.

5. Fine natural hair is also typically usually confused with thin hair.

Fine natural hair could actually be sparse or abundant, but what makes hair fine is the diameter of the each hair strand. It is smaller than average hair.

Now that you know some of the behaviors of fine hair, it is time for you to take control and embrace your fine hair. It may seem hard at first but with the right products and styling tips you can overcome any issues you are experiencing with having fine hair.
